Retired IOD Paint Inlays: Complete Archive

If you are searching for the name of an older Iron Orchid Designs paint inlay—or trying to identify a favorite pattern that is no longer in the current line—this archive gathers retired IOD Paint Inlays in one place.

IOD Paint Inlays are different from transfers or decals. They use a painted design that is applied to a freshly painted surface, allowing the artwork to become part of the finish instead of sitting on top as a separate film.

Every IOD Paint Inlay is a limited-run product. IOD makes one production run of each design. However, limited-run and retired do not mean the same thing. An inlay may remain in the current line while inventory from that one run is available. It becomes retired when IOD officially removes the design from its current offerings. This archive focuses on the Paint Inlays that are also retired.

Looking for a retired design that is still available? Visit our Retired IOD Products collection. It automatically displays only retired products currently in stock. You can also browse our current IOD Paint Inlays collection. Bluebird Mercantile ships throughout the United States.

Frequently asked questions about retired IOD Paint Inlays

What is an IOD Paint Inlay?

An IOD Paint Inlay is a sheet carrying a painted design that is transferred into a freshly painted surface. Unlike a decal or adhesive transfer, the design becomes part of the painted finish.

How is an IOD Paint Inlay different from an IOD transfer?

An IOD transfer uses an adhesive-backed design applied to a prepared surface. A Paint Inlay releases its painted artwork into wet paint. The two products require different application methods, so always follow the instructions included with the specific product.

Are all IOD Paint Inlays limited-run products?

Yes. Each IOD Paint Inlay design is made in one production run. Once that production run is gone, IOD does not continually manufacture more of the same design.

Does limited-run mean the same thing as retired?

No. Limited-run describes how the product is manufactured: one production run per design. Retired is a separate product status. A limited-run inlay may still be part of the current line while inventory remains. The designs in this archive are the inlays that have also been retired.

Can an older Paint Inlay still be used?

An unopened or carefully stored Paint Inlay may remain usable, but age, moisture and storage conditions can affect delicate sheets. Keep inlays flat, dry and protected inside their original packaging, and follow the package directions when applying a hard-to-replace design.

Does Bluebird Mercantile ship IOD products outside Florida?

Yes. Bluebird Mercantile ships available IOD products to customers throughout the United States.
