Antiquing in DeLand, FL: What to Know Before You Visit Vault 44 Marketplace
If antiquing is your favorite way to spend a Saturday, DeLand deserves a spot on your list. It's a walkable, historic downtown packed with locally owned shops, and it's become a genuine destination for people who love the hunt — vintage furniture, collectibles, art, and all the in-between treasures that make a day of antiquing worth it.
Where to Find Me
I have a booth inside Vault 44 Marketplace, located in the Deland Plaza just off Route 44, a short hop from Downtown DeLand. It's a vendor mall packed with an eclectic mix of antiques, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind finds from a whole community of dealers, each with their own eye and specialty — which is exactly what makes a marketplace like this worth spending real time in.
My booth is where I bring together my two favorite things: DIY décor supplies like Fusion Mineral Paint and Iron Orchid Designs, alongside the vintage pieces I source myself — Bordallo Pinheiro, blue and white chinoiserie, vintage pottery, French watercolors, and original art. It's a mix of "come make something" and "come find something already made," which I think is the best kind of shopping trip.
What to Expect When You Visit
Vendor marketplaces like Vault 44 work a little differently than a single antique shop — every booth is curated by a different person, so the inventory is constantly changing. That's part of the fun. What I have in stock this month might be completely different from what's there next month, since I'm always out sourcing new pieces.
A few tips if antiquing like this is new to you:
- Come with an open mind, not just a list. The best finds are usually the ones you didn't know you were looking for.
- Vault 44 is open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., so there's no need to plan around limited hours.
- Checkout is easy. Vault 44 handles all purchases through one central checkout, and they take both cash and all major credit cards — no need to track down an individual vendor to pay.
- Take your time. A good marketplace rewards a slow walk-through more than a quick scan.
Make a Day of It
DeLand's historic downtown is genuinely walkable, with a good mix of antique shops, boutiques, and local restaurants nearby, so it's easy to turn a visit to Vault 44 into a full afternoon. If you're coming from out of town, it's an easy day trip from most of Central Florida.
Looking for Something Specific?
I restock often, so if you've visited before and didn't see anything that spoke to you, it's worth coming back — the booth looks different every time I bring in something new. I'm typically only in and out for restocking rather than staffing the booth day to day, but if you're hunting for a particular piece — a certain color of Bordallo Pinheiro, a specific style of chinoiserie, a French watercolor with a certain subject — I also offer sourcing services. Message or email me and let me know what you're after, and I'll keep an eye out on your behalf.
Hope to see something you love next time you stop by.
